[00:00:01] Hi, it's Laura from the Journey and I have a Hope cast for you and it's all about God being in the details. I think this could be a running theme of my Hope cast.
[00:00:13] So I remember this time that I was looking for a Shop Vac online on Facebook, Marketplace, and I had particular size, brand weight that I was looking for, power of the engine, and I was having a hard time finding within the price range that I wanted.
[00:00:30] Well, I found one and it was close by and it was going to be at a garage sale the next morning. 9am was when they opened their doors. So I made sure I was there. I beelined over there at 9 o' clock the next morning and I saw the Shop Vac and I started looking at it and asking questions of the guy that was running the garage sale.
[00:00:50] And I kept looking at him, you really look familiar.
[00:00:54] And he said, you really look familiar.
[00:00:57] And it turns out it's my cousin. You see, I grew up in Alaska and so when I moved back to the states in my late 20s, that was when I started to get to know my, my family again, my cousins as adults. And this was one of them.
[00:01:13] Well, my Aunt Joyce had passed away four years prior. That's when I met him. And I actually stood up at her funeral and I spoke out about what a joyful woman this was and an encourager and how may we all carry that joy on in our own lives and infect other people that way.
[00:01:32] Well, as I'm talking about the Shop Vac, I'm realizing, I turn around, I'm realizing that everything that's being sold is actually my Aunt Joyce's. It's all her stuff. They finally were taking the time to sell it all and walking up and down the aisles of the garage and I just start weeping.
[00:01:54] These are the things that she loved.
[00:01:56] These are the things that she valued, that she painted, that she made, that she collected.
[00:02:04] And I'm standing in the middle of it all. I was blown away because I love this woman so much. She's my twin, you know, And God made sure that I was there for the sale that I didn't know about.
[00:02:19] It was for a Shop Vac on my behalf, but on God's behalf, it was to bless me. Cute. I walked away with her apron that she made Christmas treats in, walked away with the Shop Vac and also her little baby doll that she had when she was a little itty bitty girl on the farm.
[00:02:39] I just think of her holding that baby and kissing it and treasuring it all the stories that she told that little baby. And now I get it.
[00:02:48] Is that not just the sweetest thing of God to do for me?
[00:02:52] Yeah. It says in Psalm 37 that the Lord directs the steps of the godly, and he delights in the very details of their lives. And yeah, that was a moment where I felt so much love and so much care by my Heavenly Father.
[00:03:11] It was so special to me. You know what? I know he'll do the same thing for you, and he is doing the same thing for you. Just keep your heart and your eyes and your ears open because he's speaking, he's leading, he's guiding. And who knows, maybe you'll be looking for a shop vac someday and he just unloads a dump truck of goodness in your life, too.
