[00:00:00] Good evening. I'm Laura, and this is a New Hope Cast. I thought I would tackle Romans 12, verse 9, because there are two words in there that I was like, what do those mean exactly? I mean, I got an idea. It says, abhor, he evil and cling to that which is good.
[00:00:18] And as I looked at the roots of those words, it's pretty rich. Abhor is to detest, to detach from, to remove yourself from anything that's evil and wicked.
[00:00:33] And our spirits inside us know what those things are. I mean, you know, if you're a Christ follower, it's in there. You're like, I don't feel good about that.
[00:00:43] And then cling to that which is good.
[00:00:46] Cling means to keep company with to. That was my chicken to join to.
[00:00:56] This is. I love glue and stick to.
[00:01:00] You want to glue yourself to things that are good, meaning stay close to.
[00:01:05] Don't be separated from things that are good. And inside you, you're nowhere knows. It's like, oh, that's rich, that's good, that's kind, that's of good report. That's godly, that's holy, that's.
[00:01:18] That's beautiful. And what does it say in Philippians, think about such things.
[00:01:24] So, yeah, let's just stay away from evil things. Oh, got lots of big trucks going by. And stick really close to good things because those are the things that are going to enrich in our lives. And when you fill yourself up with the good things, the good things are going to come bubbling out of you. And that's what other people are going to partake of. It's the fruit out of your life.
[00:01:50] And they're going to taste and see that the Lord is good or that you're partaking of the evil things are going to sense that, because what is inside of you, what you've put inside, what you've deposited, is going to come out. You will know a person by their love. You will know a person by what they say, by their actions.
[00:02:13] Yeah. You watch what's going on in their life, you're going to know quickly, probably within the first 10 minutes, what their priorities are. So I hope that helps. Stay away from the evil stuff and press into and glue yourself to fasten yourself to keep company with the good.
